Elva Lenora Slaughter, 65, of Midland went home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2008.
The family received friends at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland on Sunday, November 30, 2008 between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. Graveside services were held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Cherokee Cemetery in Cherokee, Texas.
Elva was born to Edgar and Wilma Light of Cherokee, TX. on October 16, 1943. Elva attended Cherokee High School where she was a cheerleader and member of the basketball team. Elva married Jerry Slaughter on April 8, 1960, and graduated from Llano High School in 1961.
Elva is survived by her husband, Jerry Slaughter of Midland; four daughters, Vickie Ripley and husband Tony of Maypearl; Pam Cunningham of Tyler; Tanya Alexander and husband Gene of Aledo; Kristi Latimer and husband Larry of Lamesa; twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Elva was a faithful member and devoted servant of the North 14th Street Church of Christ in Lamesa, and Fairmont Park Church of Christ in Midland.
She lived by her spiritual beliefs, was a woman of great integrity, and taught her children to know the Lord. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed being with her family. Hobbies included coin collecting, stamp collecting, and watching movies. She was very gifted at designing floral arrangements.
She worked for many years as a floral designer, ran an in-home day care, was a sales clerk at Anthony's, and worked in food service for Lamesa ISD. Her life's work was being a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother.She will be greatly missed. We love you, Mom. " . . . to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." II Corinthians 5:8.

James A. Smith, 61, of Llano,
formerly of San Saba, passed away, Saturday, April 19, 2008 at his home in
Llano. He was born July 21, 1946, in San Saba, the son of Alfred Elmo Smith and
Rutha Maude Rankin Smith.
On December 2, 1967, James Alfred Smith and
Nelda Gay Hightower were married in Lometa, Texas. She preceded him in death May
19, 2000. On January 11, 1966, James enlisted with the United States Air Force
and served time during the Vietnam War. James was an insurance adjuster and
attended the Church of Christ.
He is survived by two sons: Gary Smith and
his wife, Tasha, of San Antonio, TX; and Mike Smith and his wife, Laurie, of
Lometa; six grandchildren: Ciarra Lynn Smith, Joel Smith, Josh Smith, Alene
Shick, Christopher Snyder and Kendall Smith; two brothers: Richard Smith and his
wife, Genie, of Llano, and John Smith of San Saba; three sisters: Peggy Horton
and her husband, Ronnie, of Llano; Ann Turner and her husband, Parker, of Llano;
and Pat Dawson and her husband, Ralph, of Austin; and several nieces and
nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his
wife.
Services will be held Friday, April 25, 2008, at 2:00 at the
Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Harmony Ridge
Cemetery.

Geraldine (Jerri) Ellen Smith, 66, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away August 31, 2008 in Florida. Mrs. Smith was born in Holly Hill, Florida, and moved back into the Ormond Beach area in November 2007 after living 16 years in Virginia. She was a graduate of Mainland High School Class of 1959, a department store manager for Builders Square and a member of Holly Hill Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith enjoyed yard and garage sales, reading, old movies and was an avid fan of American Idol. She was also an animal lover and enjoyed caring for her plants.
She is survived by her daughter Sherri Morrow of Virginia Beach Va., two sons, Wayne Smith and Wade (Scott) Smith and his wife Karen all of Virginia Beach, Va. Two sisters, Alice Miller of Port Orange, FL and Wilma Lowe of Holly Hill FL. Five grandchildren: Jasmine Shaefer of Germany; Kristoffer Smith, Skylar Smith, Joshua Morrow and Alexandra Smith all of Virginia Beach, Va. Numerous beloved nieces and nephews: and a niece and daughter of heart, Tina Anderson, of Ormond Beach, FL.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ezell and two brothers, Carl and Edward.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Cherokee Cemetery with Doug Suggs officiating.

Margaret Smith passed away Friday, February 13, 2009. She was born to Ben Lively and Ethel Lenora Baxter Lively, on September 22, 1915 in Bend, Texas. Lloyd Smith and Margaret Lively were married on May 9, 1935 in Llano, Texas. Margaret attended the Church of Christ.
Margaret is survived by one son, Lloyd (Sam) Smith, Jr. of Bend; one daughter, Angela Vernon and her husband, Harold of Lavernia; two grandchildren, Tonya Vernon and Amanda Vernon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers and four sisters.
Services were held Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel with Williams Boyd officiating. Interment followed at the Chappel Cemetery.

Richard F. Stengel, 71, of Holt, passed away at his ranch on Monday, November 5, 2007. He was born March 20, 1936 the son of Edward and Christine Stengel in Rhineland, Texas. On July 27, 2004, Richard and Donna Selman were married in Medina County, Tx. Richard was a distinguished member of the US Army pistol team until his honorable discharge in November of 1960. Richard was a 21-year veteran of the San Antonio Police Department, where after 10 years of distinguished service as a patrolman, he was assigned to the police crime lab where he began his duties as a firearm and tool mark examiner.
After retiring from the city, he went to work for the Bexar County Forensic Science Center as a Firearm and Tool Mark Examiner. Richard was a distinguished member of AFTE (Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners). Richard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richland Springs, Tx.
He is survived by his wife Donna K. Stengel of Holt, Texas; two sons, Richard E. Stengel of Austin, TX and Robert P. Stengel of San Antonio; two daughters, Annette Cross and her husband Finis of Pflugerville, TX and Christine Inman of San Antonio; and three grandchildren. Richard was also survived by four sisters: Aileen Koch and her husband E.J. of Scranton, AR; Mary Gattis and Jeanette Redford of Ratcliff, AR; and Jeaniene Stengel of Russellville, AR; four brothers: Father Mark Stengel, O.S.B., of Subiaco Abbey, AR; Charles and James Stengel of Paris AR; and Kenneth Stengel of Ratcliff, AR.; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 10:00, at the First Baptist Church in Richland Springs with Brother Barry Fikes officiating and Father Mark Stengel assisting. Interment followed at the Varga Chapel Cemetery.

Boyd Stewardson, 77, of San
Saba County, TX, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his residence,
surrounded by his family. He was born June 5, 1930, in Coleman County, TX, the
son of Hardy Ellis Stewardson and Birdie Barton Stewardson. On June 23, 1950,
Boyd Stewardson and Pauline Gregg were married in San Saba County.
He
was herdsman for several Registered Hereford Ranches including Crosslin Hereford
Ranch in Tennessee, Thornton Hereford Ranch in Boerne, TX and others. He owned
Stewardson Trucking and ranched for a number of years.
He is survived by
his wife Pauline Stewardson and two children Janis Ann Grimes and her husband
Billy Dan of Stephenville and son Sidney Todd Stewardson of San Saba; eight
grandchildren: Dale Grimes and his wife, Tracy; Jacqueline Harmon and husband,
Jarrett; Todd Stewardson, Roger Stewardson; Justin Stewardson; Kayla Fuller and
her husband, Tyler; Brittney Stewardson; and Brian Kilgore; four
great-grandchildren: Westyn Grimes, Madisyn Grimes, Raeleigh Harmon and Kaydon
Fuller; two sisters, Frances Skiles of Weatherford and Elizabeth Barker of San
Saba; sister-in-law Lige Ann Stewardson of San Saba; and nephews: Harold Skiles
of Weatherford; James Stewardson of San Saba; Bruce Barker of Sheridin WY; and
Hardy Stewardson of Clarksville, TX.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, and one brother, J.L. Stewardson.

Tom Brand officiating and Rocky Whitely assisting. Interment followed at the San
Saba City Cemetery.

Orville
Summers, 84, of San Saba, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Llano
Memorial Hospital. He was born August 19, 1924 in San Saba County, the son of
Jessie James Summers and Edna Inez Dobbs Summers.
Orville Summers and
Bobbye Joe Parker were married on December 21, 1951 in San Saba County. He
worked for the State Highway Department until his retirement and then worked on
the Buster Pool Ranch for many years and attended the Parkview Baptist
Church.
He is survived by his wife Bobbye Joe Summers of San Saba, TX;
his brothers Clifton Summers and his wife Jean of Midland, TX, Chuck Summers and
his wife Clara of Stockton, CA; his sisters Nell Harris and her husband Don of
Ft. Worth, TX, June and her husband Woodrow of San Saba, TX and several nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Tim
Summers.
Services were held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Howell-Doran
Funeral Home Chapel with Joshua Crutchfield officiating. Interment followed at
San Saba Cemetery.

Jerry Sutton, 60, of Lometa, Texas, formerly of San Saba, passed away, Thursday, May 13, 2010, at his residence. Jerry was born March 6, 1950 in San Saba to Johnny Sutton and Jewel Juanita Wilson Sutton. He married Betty McKneely in San Saba on April 13, 1983.
Jerry worked as a butcher in a local grocery store.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty Sutton of Lometa, Texas; his sons, Dusty Sutton of Waco, Texas; and David and his wife Mary Sutton of Lometa, Texas. He is also survived by his brothers, Walter and his wife Melissa Sutton of Azle, Texas; Larry and his wife Dorothy Sutton of Zavalla, Texas; Ramie and his wife Sheryl Sutton of Santa Fe, Texas; one sister, Helen and her husband Billy Chastain of Houston, Texas; mother-in-law, Willena McKneely of Cherokee, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Sutton of Oklahoma.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Johnny W. Sutton; his mother, Jewel Juanita Sutton; one niece, Shana Leigh Sutton; one sister-in-law, Janet Golden; one nephew, Terry Chastain; and one brother, Alvin Sutton.
Services were held Sunday, May 16, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George McHorse, officiating. Pallbearers were:
Billy Sutton, Donny Sutton, Marshall Sutton, Aaron Boswell, Matt Boswell and Russell Vanderburg.
Interment followed at the San Saba Cemetery. There was no graveside service.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
